First Aid for Opioid Poisoning Emergencies
This free course offered by the Red Cross in First Aid for Opioid Poisoning Emergencies is designed to increase knowledge and instill confidence for an opioid poisoning emergency. This will include instruction on how to administer nasal naloxone. The aim is to have participants learn more about opioids and naloxone and how they affect the body. Additionally, participants will qualify for a free nasal naloxone kit upon completion of the course from the Red Cross.
This is a self directed online learning course designed for anyone 16 years of age and older who wants to learn first aid skills and knowledge to prevent, recognize, and/or respond to an opioid poisoning emergency.
Work at your own pace through the training materials independently online. The Duration is approximately 60 minutes, depending on the individual. This course can openly be shared with others, simply copy this webpage address and forward as needed.
* Please Note: If you live in Quebec, you will be given a link at the end of the course to find out where you can access naloxone kits in your area. You must also use the link if you are a current CRC staff member or volunteer.
